Caitlin van Loben Sels

Caitlin van Loben Sels began her career in criminal law in 2010 after graduating with President’s Honor’s Empire College paralegal program, working as a paralegal at the Law Office of L. Stephen Turer. It was Steve Turer who – recognized her skills for research and writing, knack for understanding and interpreting the law, and passion for fighting for the clients in his office – encouraged her to attend law school. She enrolled at Empire College School of Law in 2014, and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Empire College School of Law in June of 2017, where she was class valedictorian. As a law student Caitlin received the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Contracts, Torts, Evidence, Civil Procedure, Real Property and Best Oral Argument for her Moot Court class. She also competed on the school’s Moot Court team.

During her time as a law student, after Mr. Turer retired, she began working as a paralegal and then a law clerk here at the Law Offices of Andrian and Gallenson. She never left. Caitlin passed the California State Bar Exam in November 2017. She has since worked on criminal defense cases ranging from standard misdemeanors, felonies, and post-conviction relief such as expungements and the sealing of arrest records.

Caitlin also took on a roll with the Sonoma County conflict attorney panel representing juveniles in delinquency court from 2019 until 2025. She has extensive experience in the juvenile court and has developed a particular passion for defending juveniles who have found themselves facing all levels of charges within the juvenile justice system.

Caitlin was born and raised in Sonoma County where she currently resides with her husband and young son.
